I made it to the second annual Action Sports Conference the other day, another Group Y/Fuel TV event that was entirely successful with a sold out crowd. The event was in Huntington Beach down the street from the US Surf Open and timed perfectly with the Surf Open, X Games, Maloof Money Cup, Agenda trade-show and ASR trade-show all occurring with in a 2 week span.
I went there by myself not really knowing what to anticipate. Found it easily, valeted my dirt encrusted Subaru and joined a business conference full of Vans wearing business entrepreneurs. Whether they founded a skate company, or were the first to do a 900 in competition, they were all entrepreneurs in some way. It was an honor to be in such a respected but passionate audience.
Nike hasn't always been considered a key player in the action sports industry, so when I began to hear the buzz on Nike 6.0 I began to get a little suspicious. It all started back at ASR in '07 when I saw a single small easy-up with a Nike display. I wasn't too surprised. Nike had been picking up a lot of momentum with their Nike Airs and great color schemes. I already knew Nike Owned both Hurley and Converse and I kinda assumed that was enough for them. But nope, in comes Nike 6.0.
Just so happens that Wednesday Group Y and Nike 6.0 held an industry night at Nike 6.0's Motel No-Tell in Huntington Beach, CA. I figured why not cure this skepticism and check it out. So my friend Thu and I made the journey to the surf capital and learned what Nike 6.0 was all about.

I'm at a loss for words. I figured I could write something here, and then I realized that I have far too much to say. So in regards to this, I will post delightful photos of the events which have occurred the last 2 weeks.
I ended up getting this really amazing internship with Malakye.com, this is the incredibly scary overpass I now get to use 8 times a week. Hopefully there are no earthquakes while I am going over this one.

I went to the 30 years of Bad Religion concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood. It was an amazing time and they played for over an hour and a half. The 3 page set list was amazing.
Another trip to Mammoth. Wondering how much snow is still there? Have a look at the parking lot. Yet it just keeps snowing more and more.
Whenever I say that I love LA, it always comes with the response, "Why?"
Because even a simple walk to the coffee shop is a spectacular site.

I guess this car has been sitting here quite a while. I wish my photos did it justice, but if you look closely inside, there are three skeletons in 40's attire hanging out.

Work from the wonderful Shepard Fairey. He lives a few blocks away. I walked into a fire hydrant immediately after this.

As I was taking this one, some fellow stopped me and proceeded to give me a brief history of LA graffiti and how Slick did this wall 10 years or so ago.
